The research program covers the field of energy simulation of building and HVAC systems, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) in the built environment (specifically buildings and tunnels), thermal comfort, lighting, natural and mechanical ventilation, heat pump applications. Monitoring and assessment of indoor environmental quality have been carried out in several buildings both at national and international level. The group gives assistance and guidelines to design low energy buildings using also renewable energy, and to establish energy certification procedures.
ASSESSMENT OF THE GLOBAL QUALITY OF INDOOR ENVIRONMENTS
Buildings and related systems and equipments aim at pledging the achievement of high comfort levels must happen in any aspect thermal feelings to lighting indexes. Even more, it bases on the indoor the adequate supply of fresh air. As a consequence, the most important by this team in the field of the global quality of indoor environments following topics:
Analysis of advanced comfort indexes, able to take into account behaviour as well.
Supply of air for heating/cooling purposes and for the achievement in indoor environments. The most important topics studied by natural, displacement and personalized ventilations.
Studies on illuminating engineering, especially on the aspects control and assessment, even from the energy point of view.
